Ableton Live & APC40 MKII Live Performance. The AKAI APC40 (the 40 relates to the number of Clip Launch Buttons) was a rare beast when it was launched. Until that point all manners of MIDI controllers were used with Ableton Live, each with it’s own preferred mapping or rudimentary Control Surface script.
FXGRID
The Launchpad is a very popular MIDI controller dedicated for Ableton Live.
I always wanted to expand the capabilities of the Launchpad and at the time of making this I did not have Max for Live (This days it comes included with Ableton 9 Suite).
Akai Apc40
Thankfully the good people at novation released a programmers guide for the Launchpad which was very helpful in building this template.
All the effects are built-in devices but you will need Suite since I’m using the Amp effect for this Template which only comes with the Suite version.
Installation:
– Open up the FxGrid.alp Live Pack
– Choose a destination on your Hard-Drive where the project will be installed.
– Open up FxGrid Live Set
– Load loops to “Loops Go Here”
– Plug in your Launchpad
– Press “User 2”
– Flip it sideways
– Hit play
